LOS ANGELES – USA TODAY's 2026 Women of the Year were honored at the Angel City FC vs. Houston Dash game at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday, March 27.

"At USA TODAY, we are deeply committed to serving our communities — not only with essential, unbiased news and information, but also with storytelling that brings joy, sparks curiosity, and inspires," senior vice president Monica Richardson said in a reception before kickoff, as bands played and fans cheered. "The women we honor tonight embody that spirit, consistently surpassing expectations through their leadership, courage, and impact."

In acknowledging the honor, Willow Bay, co-owner and controlling board member of Angel City, referenced the energy in the stadium.

"This is what investing in women looks like," she said. "With a mission that's grounded in equity and excellence with support and resources for elite athletes at the highest level. To create a world class product on the pitch that excites our fans. To create an environment where everyone feels welcome and to create a business, shattering records and delivering community impact in a way that is embedded in its business model."

Kara Nortman, a co-founder of the club, added, "I can't tell you how meaningful this is," she said thanking USA TODAY for highlighting the work of all the honorees. "We all need to tell each other's stories." And not just tell, but "scream from the trees," she said.
