March 31 (UPI) -- NATO forces have intercepted another Iranian ballistic munition in Turkish airspace, the defense alliance and Ankara said.
"A ballistic projectile, determined to have been launched from Iran and to have entered Turkish airspace, has been neutralized by NATO air and missile defense units deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean," Turkey's Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The incident occurred Monday.
"All necessary measures are being taken decisively and without hesitation against any threat directed at our country's territory and airspace," the ministry continued. "All developments in the region are being closely monitored with our national security as the top priority."
NATO spokesperson Allison Hart confirmed the interception.
