Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which has announced to contest in all 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, is aiming to become an alternative to the political majors in its debut in the 10 Assembly seats in Coimbatore district.

Except ex-MLA A. Sridharan, who is contesting in Valparai, all the nine candidates fielded by TVK in Coimbatore district are new faces, who will have to face political majors such as the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance, besides Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi.

N. Sunil Anand in Mettupalayam, N.M. Sukumar in Sulur, R.D. Kanimozhi in Kavundampalayam, V. Sampathkumar in Coimbatore North, R. Sathish Raju in Thondamuthur, V. Senthilkumar in Coimbatore South, K.S. Giriprasath in Singanallur, K. Vignesh in Kinathukadavu and G. Ramanathan in Pollachi are the other candidates of TVK in Coimbatore district.

They will face seven sitting MLAs of the AIADMK - namely S.P. Velumani, Pollachi V. Jayaraman, V.P. Kandasamy, Amman K. Arjunan, K.R. Jayaram, S. Damodaran and P.R.G. Arunkumar and former MLA O.K. Chinnaraj. The BJP, which has been allotted the Coimbatore North constituency, is yet to announce its candidate.
