ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday condemned Israel’s military operations in Gaza and the West Bank, the foreign office said, reaffirming Islamabad’s unwavering support for Palestinians.
Israel’s military has continued to carry out operations in Gaza and the West Bank despite a fragile ceasefire in place in Gaza since last year. Two Israeli air strikes on two police checkpoints killed at least six Palestinians, including a child, Palestinian health officials said on Sunday. The Israeli military’s violence in the West Bank, a Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967, has also surged since Oct. 7, 2023 when Hamas carried out a surprise attack on Israel.
The foreign office shared the statement after Dar, who is also Pakistan’s foreign minister, held bilateral talks with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty in Islamabad. The two sides held talks ahead of an important quadrilateral meeting that Pakistan will host with the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to discuss the Middle East tensions.
“The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and strongly condemned the continued aggression by Israeli occupying forces in Gaza and the West Bank,” the foreign office said.
