RIYADH: Authorities in the Riyadh region have intensified their preparedness measures as rainy and unstable weather continues to affect parts of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.
The Riyadh Region Municipality, working across its governorates, has activated a comprehensive field plan to enhance response efficiency and ensure uninterrupted municipal services. The move comes as thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall persist across several regions of the Kingdom due to seasonal atmospheric instability.
Field teams have increased the readiness of personnel and equipment, carried out preventive maintenance on drainage networks, and conducted inspections to minimize water accumulation. Efforts also include the expanded deployment of machinery and water-pumping equipment, alongside strengthened coordination to ensure rapid response to incidents.

The measures mirror similar actions taken in other regions, including Makkah, where municipal teams remain on high alert following recent downpours. Authorities there have focused on clearing drainage systems, managing floodwater, and maintaining traffic flow, while responding swiftly to reports of flooding.
