MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” panelists fought back their laughter Thursday as they ripped on Republicans who honored President Donald Trump with a new, made-up “America First Award.”
“Stop! They did not make up another award for him!,” co-host Mika Brzezinski said with her palm in her face, reacting to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) presenting the honor at the National Republican Congressional Committee fundraiser a day earlier.
The award, Johnson said, was symbolized by a golden statue “appropriate for the new golden era in America” and would now be given out annually.
The GOP’s made-up award was swiftly mocked online, and follows several questionable honors for Trump during his second term, including the new FIFA Peace Prize and his second-hand Nobel Peace Prize from an actual winner, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
MS Now host Joe Scarborough jokingly said Trump was honored with the “America First Award” by Republicans “because the FIFA Peace Prize award has gone so well” and “since then, hell has rained down like never before.’
