Trump Threatens Schumer As DHS Funding Deal StallsPresident Donald Trump attacked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Thursday, the 40th day of the shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, warning that if Democrats fail to back a deal to fund DHS, Republicans will move to kill the Senate’s filibuster.“Chuck Schumer, a desperate, crippled politician, who has lost control of the Radical Left Democrats, will make a deal now because he thinks that if he doesn’t, Republicans will TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, something which they should do whether he makes a deal or not!!!” Trump wrote.Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has previously made clear he doesn’t have the votes to kill the filibuster.A deal to end the partial government shutdown remains elusive as the two sides remain far apart.
