Seven months after private hospitals in Haryana briefly suspended treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme due to delayed payments, the Haryana chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has once again approached the Chief Minister’s Office, raising concerns over pending dues exceeding ₹400 crore accumulated over the past six months.

Claiming that the Chief Minister Nayab Saini was probably “being misled by your officers” on several issues about the scheme, the IMA, Haryana, in a letter, said that “payments are still much delayed”.

“They (the payments) are supposed to be done within a fortnight of filing [the claims], but at present, payments of even September last year are pending. Queries are put, and even after clearing those queries, payments are not made. Hospitals claim outstanding dues of more than ₹400 crores as of date,” read the letter.

Starting from August 7, 2025, around 700 private hospitals empanelled under the scheme had kept the treatment in abeyance for 19 days before resuming services following an assurance from the government agencies. In January last year, the private hospitals threatened to stop treatment for the beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme over delayed payments, but withdrew the call after the government cleared the dues.
