Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) reviewed the evolving security situation in West Asia and its implications for India’s defence preparedness at a high-level meeting attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, the three Service Chiefs, senior Ministry officials, and the Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

During the meeting, Mr. Singh was briefed on the global and regional security landscape, including the potential impact of an escalation in the ongoing conflicts on India’s strategic interests, according to the Ministry of Defence. Discussions also focused on emerging challenges and opportunities arising from the current geopolitical environment.
The review examined possible disruptions to defence supply chains, particularly in procurement and domestic production, as well as issues related to maintenance and serviceability of existing military equipment.
Emphasising the need for preparedness, the Defence Minister directed officials to continuously study operational and technological lessons from ongoing conflicts. He called for the formulation of a comprehensive, integrated roadmap for the next decade, aimed at strengthening India’s operational readiness while advancing self-reliance in defence under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
