The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Monday held a State-level youth conference at Jind’s Narwana, once considered a traditional stronghold of the Chautalas, in a show of strength and aimed at its political resurgence in Haryana.

Holding the conference, coinciding with the Martyrs’ Day, INLD national president Abhay Singh Chautala said the party would form a government led by the youth in 2029 and announced to allocate 50% tickets to the young candidates. “Upon the formation of our government, one youth from every household will be provided with a government job. Any youth who remains without employment will be given a monthly honorarium of ₹21,000. Furthermore, interest-free loans of up to ₹1 crore will be provided to the youth to enable them to become self-reliant,” said Mr. Chautala.

He claimed Haryana currently faced an unemployment rate of approximately 27.8%. “Rampant unemployment has led to surge in crime and drug abuse. As a result, hundreds of young lives are being lost every month due to drug-related causes,” said Mr. Chautala, adding that the State’s entire educational system had completely collapsed.

Cong., BJP targeted

Alleging that the BJP had pushed the youth of Haryana into the abyss over the last 11 years, he stated that the Congress was ‘Saapnath’ (the Snake), the BJP ‘Nagnath’ (the Serpent), and there is yet another party – ‘Bichchunath’ (the Scorpion). He remarked that the Congress had engaged in mudslinging and negative politics, going so far as to label the INLD as the “B-team” of the BJP.
