RIYADH: The secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has renewed his condemnation of the continued Iranian escalatory attacks on member states, describing Tehran’s actions “as unacceptable acts of aggression that undermine de-escalation efforts and threaten both regional and international security.”
“These attacks involve the deliberate targeting of infrastructure and oil facilities in flagrant violation of international law and norms, posing a direct threat to regional security and the stability of global energy supplies,” Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said in a statement released on Sunday.
The Iranians’ claims of attempting to hold the GCC states responsible for any military operations are false and are categorically rejected, Albudaiwi said, as such claims were entirely baseless considering the GCC’s policies respecting state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and the promotion of security and peace.
Albudaiwi restated the GCC states’ rights to “take all necessary measures to protect their security and stability, safeguard their assets and resources, and respond to these aggressions.”
He also called on the international committee to compel Iran to comply with the UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) and halt its provocations and actions against its regional neighbors.
