Read our guide right here. How To Play PipsIn Pips, you have a grid of multicolored boxes. Each colored area represents a different “condition” that you have to achieve. You have a select number of dominoes that you have to spend filling in the grid. You must use every domino and achieve every condition properly to win. There are Easy, Medium and Difficult tiers.MORE FOR YOUHere’s an example of a difficult tier Pips:Pips exampleScreenshot: Erik KainAs you can see, the grid has a bunch of symbols and numbers with each color. On the far left, the three purple squares must not equal one another (hence the equal sign crossed out). The two pink squares next to that must equal a total of 0. The zig-zagging blue squares all must equal one another. You click on dominoes to rotate them, and will need to since they have to be rotated to fit where they belong. Not shown on this grid are other conditions, such as “less than” or “greater than.” If there are multiple tiles with > or < signs, the total of those tiles must be greater or less than the listed number. It varies by grid. Blank spaces can have anything. The various possible conditions are:= All pips must equal one another in this group.≠ All pips must not equal one another in this group.> The pip in this tile (or tiles) must be greater than the listed number.< The pip in this tile must be less than the listed number. An exact number (like 6) The pip must equal this exact number.Tiles with no conditions can be anything. In order to win, you have to use up all your dominoes by filling in all the squares, making sure to fit each condition. Sometimes there’s only one way to solve the puzzle. Other times, there can be two or more different solutions. Spoilers ahead.Today’s Easy PipsEasy PipsScreenshot: Erik KainToday’s Medium PipsMedium PipsScreenshot: Erik KainHard Pips Walkthrough And SolutionHere’s today’s Hard Pips:Hard PipsScreenshot: Erik KainToday’s Hard Pips is another all-single-tile-pattern Pips. These almost always follow the same basic rules. All the free tiles are a specific number — in this case 1’s — so it can be easier to just picture the 1 in those tiles. I had a bit of trial and error as I progressed through the puzzle, sometimes finding that I had to rework earlier areas because I didn’t have the right dominos left in my stash. At least there’s an obvious starting point!Step 1Begin with the 2/3 domino from Pink 2 over into Orange 3. Next, place the 3/1 domino from Blue 3 into the first free tile and the 2/2 domino above that from Pink 2 to Purple 2 in the top left corner. Place the 3/3 domino next to that, from Pink 3 into Blue 3, and the 1/0 domino below from the second free tile into Orange 0.Hard PipsScreenshot: Erik KainStep 2Next, place the 0/4 domino from Dark Blue 0 on the bottom left down into Blue 4. The 0/2 domino goes from the Dark Blue 0 tile above the last one, down into Green 2. Place the 2/1 domino from the bottom Orange 2 tile into the third free tile and the 1/4 domino above that, from the fourth free tile into Pink 4. Then place the 4/4 domino in the bottom right corner from Dark Blue 4 over into Green 4.Hard PipsScreenshot: Erik KainSolutionPlace the 0/0 domino in the center from Green 0 over into Purple 0 and the 1/1 domino in the remaining two free tiles. The 2/4 domino goes from Orange 2 down into Dark Blue 4. The 0/3 domino goes from Dark Blue 0 into Green 3. And finally, the 4/3 domino goes from Green 4 in the top right corner, down into Purple 3. Hard PipsScreenshot: Erik KainA bit of a trickier Hard Pips than we’ve seen in awhile. I always enjoy this style of Pips because it’s just fundamentally different from standard Hard Pips, not just in terms of shape but also in its function to some degree. How’d you do on today’s Pips?
