The Thiruvottiyur Police arrested two persons, including a 21-year-old history-sheeter, for assaulting and robbing a 49-year-old construction worker in Thiruvottiyur on Friday.
A senior official of the City Police said Pandian was a resident of Bazaar Street in Thazhankuppam near Ennore, and was walking home near the Thiruvottiyur flyover on the Thursday night after finishing his work.
Two unidentified individuals stopped Pandian and demanded money. When Pandian refused to hand over any cash, the two persons physically assaulted him and showing a knife, snatched ₹1,200 from him and fled the scene.
The police during investigation found the two individuals to be Lokesh, 21, of Kaladipettai in Thiruvottiyur, and Vignesh, 23, a resident of Tsunami Nagar in Ernavoor. Of the two accused Lokesh, alias “Kutta” Lokesh, was a history-sheeter having criminal offences registered against him at the Ennore Police Station. It was also found he had posed for photographs with a knife and posted them on the social media.
The two accused persons were produced before a judicial magistrate and sent to Puzhal prison.
