Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr is asking broadcasters to air more “patriotic programming” and “pro-America” content ahead of the country’s 250th anniversary.

“We’re inviting broadcasters to once again highlight the great wins of the country and to run patriotic programming,” Carr said on the New York Post’s “PodForceOne,” podcast on Wednesday. “Maybe starting off with the Pledge of Allegiance, which we used to do. But there are lots of ways that you can run pro-America content.”

Carr was asked by host Miranda Devine where he thinks broadcasters had “lost their way” and became “anti-American.”

“New York and Hollywood have never been known for really having the pulse of the cross-section of the country,” Carr said. ”We saw this just significant explosion of DEI and woke ideology, and it was just fully embraced, hook, line and sinker by New York and Hollywood.”

It’s unclear what Carr meant by “patriotic programming,” but based on his track record, it likely does not include programming critical of President Donald Trump. Carr has dubbed this effort the “Pledge America Campaign.”
