Last Friday, a police officer accompanied by soldiers went to the Palestinian village of Kafr Dhaba in the West Bank. There, in violation of the law, he confiscated an ancient stone because it had a decoration that he thought resembled a menorah. He even pompously declared that "this is a matter of heritage; we are returning a lost object to its owner."
