ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said Pakistan is ready to play its role in de-escalating tensions in the Middle East, international news channel Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday, as the Middle East war intensifies with each passing day.
Iran launched a barrage of missile and drone attacks against Israel and other Gulf nations on Wednesday after Israel killed two senior officials in the country. Tehran confirmed the killings of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and General Gholam Reza Soleimani, the head of the Revolutionary Guard’s all-volunteer Basij.
Several international news organizations reported sirens blaring across the central part of Israel on Wednesday, while loud explosions were also reported in Tel Aviv. Israel’s medical service, Magen David Adom, said two people were killed in Ramat Gan, a district east of Tel Aviv.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Tarar stressed his country’s pivotal role as a regional partner with a deep commitment to diplomatic stability in the Middle East.
“Minister Tarar expressed a sincere ‘desire to participate to de-escalate the situation’ in Iran and to prevent further instability,” Al Jazeera reported.
