The State government on Tuesday submitted before the Kerala High Court that the proposal for a sea wall at Chellanam was pending before a technical sanction committee.
The financial sanction order has already been issued, while technical sanction is expected shortly. The project can be awarded through Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS) on a nomination basis. Steps to prevent sea erosion are being taken on priority basis, depending on the vulnerability and gravity of the “sourness in the region and also depending on the availability of geobags,” the government said.
The matter has been posted for hearing on April 1.
Three residents from Chellanam had approached the High Court, seeking speedy completion of the reconstruction of the sea wall along the coast.
