With the Assembly election fast approaching, major political parties are gearing up to face the electorate with varying levels of confidence in Madurai.

The DMK, which is facing anti-incumbency and intra-party issues, seems to be determined to bury all rancour for now and work together. The AIADMK-led opposition is keen to expose the wrongdoings and failures of their opponent. Seeman’s NTK has announced candidates, who have already started working on the field.

DMK’s preparations

DMK managers are clear about their poll strategies. “We have a large number of political parties as allies... with the DMK itself having a vote share of over 40%, we will sweep all 10 seats in Madurai district,” a senior leader said.

Admitting that there were intra-party issues, the DMK leader said it had all been buried for the time being. The high command had given clear instructions to the functionaries at the ward level and above at the recent BLA meeting to ensure 100% win.
