Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena inaugurated a sericulture market building at the Sericulture Development Office campus at Konam in Nagercoil on Saturday.The building was constructed at a cost of ₹34 lakh.Speaking at the event Ms. Alagumeena said that sericulture training centre located in Konam area of Agasteeswaram taluk has facilities for young silkworm rearing, mulberry seedling, silk cocoon, government silk spinning centre and other related facilities. She added that the worms were being reared at appropriate temperature and humidity in the rearing centre and distributed to the farmers.She noted that 1.25 lakh mulberry seedlings were annually provided to farmers for their use. In order to meet the demands of farmers of the sericulture training centre, a government sericulture market building has been constructed for their benefit. This will help farmers trade the silk cocoon produced by them and enable them to determine fair price for the cocoons.Kanniyakumari MP Vijay Vasanth, Nagercoil Corporation Mayor R.
