Boxer Jake Paul and President Donald Trump compared notes and found that neither was aware the seriousness of profound head injuries in the moment they happened.
Trump said when he was shot in the ear in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024, he was surprised by the amount of blood more than the pain.
“I said, ‘That’s either the biggest mosquito bite in history or I just got shot,’” Trump said of the assassination attempt while he was campaigning to return to the White House. “It was not a pleasant experience.”
As the star guest on Paul’s inaugural podcast released March 13, the president asked the boxer how it felt to have his jaw broken in a fight against Anthony Joshua. Paul said he didn’t realize the extent of the injury until his brother mentioned afterward that his teeth looked misplaced.
“It was the last punch of the fight that did it,” Paul said. “It’s still healing. I’m not able to fight until later this year.”
