ANNE-GAELLE AMIOT
Standing nearly 2 meters tall with an athlete's build, well-cut suits and measured words, Flor Bressers never fit the Netflix drug-lord stereotype. On February 16, 2022, when a Swiss police special unit broke down the door of his 22nd-floor penthouse of Zurich's Renaissance Tower, the 38-year-old Fleming was savoring a €3,000 bottle of wine alongside his Dutch partner, engaged in an oenophile's ritual. He clearly has a taste for luxury. Judicial documents later profiled by Swiss daily Tages-Anzeiger revealed that, in two years living in Switzerland under the alias Artur Gitta, Bressers spent €2.5 million, including nearly €650,000 on jewelry, €410,000 on top-class vintage wines, €223,000 on clothing and €32,000 on massages.
As they entered the apartment, the police were surprised to find a baby asleep in a bassinet adorned with a diamond. Then they came across the master of the house: Bressers himself. The criminal is known under several aliases: "le Long" ("The Tall One"), "l'Universitaire" ("The Academic") and "le Coupeur de doigts" ("The Finger Cutter"). Since May 2021, his name has appeared on Europol's list of most wanted criminals. Under his portrait is the following description: "This man is intelligent, ambitious and violent. A very dangerous combination."
