Bengaluru police have arrested a man who allegedly cheated several people by offering EV scooters at an incentivised price under a non-existent ‘Prime Minister Scheme’.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh, owner of the Appke EV showroom in North Bengaluru. The police suspect that there may be many victims and have launched an investigation into the case.
The action follows a complaint filed by a 38-year-old woman who was allegedly cheated by the company’s employees. According to the FIR, the woman was misled by the company, which claimed that an EV scooter would be delivered to her at a cost of ₹25,000, while its original price was ₹70,000.
She further stated that employees of the Appke EV showroom told her that the remaining amount would be covered through a loan arranged by the company. The EMI for the loan, they said, would be paid by the showroom itself under the ‘Prime Minister’s Scheme’.
Impressed by the offer, the complainant made a down payment of ₹25,000 in November 2025 but did not collect a receipt for the payment, according to the FIR.
