At least 47 people were arrested during a 24-hour special drive ‘Operation Shastra’ across three districts of Rohini, North West and Outer North, the officials said on Thursday.The operation, conducted from 8 a.m. on March 11 to 8 a.m. on March 12, in these districts, resulted in the registration of 43 cases under the Arms Act. Police teams recovered 13 illegal country-made pistols, 16 live cartridges and 31 knives, along with a stolen motorcycle.The police said multiple teams from three districts carried out coordinated raids targeting individuals involved in street crimes such as robbery, extortion, snatching, and illegal possession of arms. Many of those arrested were repeat offenders with several criminal cases registered against them.Police also seized 9.3 kg of ganja under the NDPS Act, and about 25 cases were registered under the Excise Act, leading to the arrest of 24 persons and the recovery of 723 litres of illicit liquor. Police also registered seven gambling cases, arresting 14 individuals.Officials said the operation was aimed at preventing firearms- and knife-related street crimes and strengthening law and order in northern Delhi.
