March 12 (UPI) -- NASA on Thursday is expected to give an update on the flight readiness of the Artemis II mission, which was delayed by a helium flow issue last month.
Artemis II is planned as the first crewed mission of the Space Launch System and Orion, and will take a four-astronaut team around the moon to test the new spacecraft's systems and do research that will inform the eventual return of humans to the moon in the next few years.
"NASA is continuing work on the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft in NASA Kennedy's Vehicle Assembly Building before a second rollout to the launch pad later this month ahead of a potential launch in April," the agency said in a press release.
The briefing, NASA said, will happen after an Artemis II Flight readiness review.
