March 12 (UPI) -- The Ohio State University has named Ravi V. Bellamkonda as president after Saturday's resignation of Ted Carter.
Bellamkonda will take up the position immediately, according to a press release from the university.
Carter resigned Monday after admitting to an "inappropriate relationship with someone seeking public resources to support her personal business."
Bellamkonda, who becomes the university's 18th president, has been Ohio State's executive vice president for academic affairs since January 2025. He is a bioengineer and neuroscientist with a Ph.D. from Brown University. He has previously served as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Emory University and as the Vinik dean of the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University.
