Temperatures in parts of Telangana are likely to drop slightly, bringing some relief from the high temperatures as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning for multiple Telangana districts for Sunday and Monday )(March 15 and 16, 2026). The change in weather is being attributed to rising temperatures and increased moisture in the atmosphere.
“The gradual increase in temperatures is creating favourable conditions for localised weather developments. As temperatures rise, the atmosphere becomes unstable, which can trigger thermal activity in some areas,” said Dharma Raju, Scientist at the IMD Hyderabad Centre.
He explained that the presence of moisture in the atmosphere will also contribute to the development of thunderstorms. South-easterly winds are expected to prevail over the region during this period, bringing additional moisture into the air. “These winds from the south and east help moderate the heat by increasing humidity levels. The added moisture in the atmosphere, combined with rising temperatures, creates conditions conducive to thunderstorm activity,” he said.
