Elly Schlein, the leader of the opposition, centre-left Democratic Party (PD), said Thursday that she was willing to engage in dialogue with the government over how to handle the crisis in the Middle East but first Premier Giorgia Meloni needed to adopt a less aggressive approach.
"Meloni is doing everything on her own," Schlein told SkyTg24.
"We said yesterday that we are here (for dialogue) as we have always been.
"(When the US attacked Iran) in June, I was the first to call the premier.
"Now she must put down the truncheon.
