Midwest states have been left reeling after storms and tornadoes ripped through the area.

Indiana and Illinois were hit by strong winds, causing property damage, uprooting trees, smashing roofs and overturning cars on the evening of Tuesday, March 10, into Wednesday, March 11. Severe hail was reported from Texas to Illinois, and flash flooding was reported in Michigan.

Parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio remained under a tornado watch Wednesday afternoon.

At least two people were killed in northwest Indiana when a tornado hit the small town of Lake Village, and rescue crews were on the ground Wednesday searching for people stuck in homes.

According to USA TODAY's outage tracker, more than 15,000 customers were without power in Indiana and Illinois around 3 p.m. ET on March 11.
