Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday unveiled the foundation for the construction of a battery pack manufacturing unit by Ashok Leyland in Kancheepuram district. The project, to be implemented at Pillaipakkam, with an investment of ₹500 crore, is expected to provide employment for about 200 people.

Mini Tidel Parks

The Chief Minister also unveiled the foundation for the construction of Mini Tidel Parks by the Industries Department in Karur, Nagapattinam and Pudukkottai districts at a total cost of ₹119 crore. These parks are expected to generate employment for about 1,800 professionals.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the State government and Hirose Group over establishing a electrical/ electronic connectors manufacturing unit in Tiruvallur district at a cost of ₹100 crore. This project is expected to generate employment for over 100 people.

At another event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the State government and the University of California, Berkeley, for strengthening ties to promote green energy in the State. The Chief Minister unveiled the foundation stone for the construction of a training unit for ex-servicemen hailing from the State in St. Thomas Mount in Chengalpattu district. The unit, spread over 59,600 sq.ft., will be constructed at a total cost of ₹35 crore.
