Congress MLCDr. Balmoor Venkat has strongly criticised the Central Government, holding it responsible for the ongoing gas shortage in the country.
Speaking to media after a meeting Civil Supplies Commissioner here on Wednesday, he alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diplomatic stance with Israel has led oil‑producing nations to halt fuel supplies to India, while neutral countries continue to receive uninterrupted supplies. “The Centre failed to anticipate such a situation and acted negligently,” he said.
Dr. Venkat pointed out that the Centre initially claimed India had reserves sufficient for 74 days despite the war crisis, but has now changed its stance, admitting there are no gas reserves. He said the government has ordered a halt to commercial supply, continuing only domestic distribution, which has created confusion among States.
