President Donald Trump on Monday offered a brag about his time in office so far that even critics had to agree was right on the money. “No other president could do some of this shit I’m doing,” Trump said at a retreat for House Republicans, held at his Doral resort in Miami. He was speaking about his use of tariffs to cut the prices of prescription drugs. But his critics admitted that same phrase could be applied to much of his presidency ― just not for the reasons Trump was referring to. They hit back on X with some rare agreement with the president: Putting aside the utter lack of decorum, he’s right. He can do what others can’t because he lacks the moral compass, healthy shame, and functioning conscience that normally restrain people from doing terrible things.
