NEW YORK, March 10 (UPI) -- Jonathan Roumie says his character in the sun-soaked rom-com, Solo Mio, was a welcome break from the emotionally intense roles he played in The Chosen and Jesus Revolution.

Available on digital platforms Tuesday, the film casts Kevin James as Matt, a hopeless romantic who gets left at the altar by Heather (Julie Emery) at their destination wedding in Italy.

Unable to get a refund, Matt goes ahead and tries to enjoy his honeymoon alone. Before long, he is befriended by two newlywed couples -- Meghan (Alyson Hannigan) and Julian (Kim Coates), and Donna (Julee Cerda) and Neil (Roumie) -- who are determined to cheer him up.

"Wearing street clothes was such a departure for me. It was nice to just to take a load off and just have a few laughs and make a great film with Italy as the backdrop. It was a dream," Roumie, 51, told UPI in a recent Zoom interview.

"It was as fun as it looked. They're just brilliant. Comedic geniuses, both of them, acting chops for days," Roumie said of co-stars James (King of Queens) and Coates (Sons of Anarchy). "It was lovely to get to just be with these sparring partners, just having the time of your life, with these guys behind the camera just letting us do our thing and gently guiding us where the story needs to go."
