March 9 (UPI) -- With two more prep races in the books, both won by relative long shots, the Kentucky Derby field is still looking for a solid favorite.

Those weren't the only upsets in weekend horse racing, either. Last year's champion 2-year-old and 3-year-old fillies went down to defeat. The Grade I Santa Anita Handicap went to a 7-1 chance. The favorites lost in both turf mile races at Santa Anita.

A few favorites did buck the trend and their exploits are chronicled below.

The Road to the Roses

There were some hot prospects in Saturday's $400,000 Grade III ESMARK Tampa Bay Derby but the winner, The Puma, certainly wasn't in the forefront.
