The North Beach police have arrested six persons for planning to stage a drama and steal hawala money from businessmen.City police said Mohammad Moideen, who works at Burma Bazaar, used to take hawala money collected from various businessmen at Burma Bazaar and NAC Bose Road. He planned to stage a robbery for which he sought the help of five persons T. Mugilan, S. Ajay, M. Murugesh, N. Amithu, and I. Bhaskar.On Saturday night, a police patrol team of the North Beach station saw a group of persons in a two wheeler moving in a suspicious manner near the subway of the Reserve Bank of India office.As the police team approached, the five persons in three two-wheelers tried to escape from the spot.The police team chased and arrested them. On interrogation, the police found that Mohammed Moideen had asked them to wait there to waylay and rob him. The police team seized a knife and detained them. Published - March 09, 2026 01:52 am IST
