LONDON: The drone attack on the British military base at Akrotiri in Cyprus originated from Lebanon, Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos said on Sunday.
The attack last Sunday on the Royal Air Force base, using suspected Iranian Shahed drones, caused minimal damage and no casualties.
Kombos said that “the focus must now be on the Lebanese front and no possibility can be ruled out,” the Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
His remarks come amid rising tensions in the region after Hezbollah, which the UK and other nations have proscribed as a terrorist organization, launched projectiles into Israel following the US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji responded on X to Kombos’ remarks.
