“Saturday Night Live” took parting shots at Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and her “year (singular) of hard work” in the cold open after President Donald Trump fired her. (Watch the “SNL” cold open below.)

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth (played by Colin Jost) introduced Noem (played by Ashley Padilla) at a fake Iran war press conference by declaring that she was “reassigned under the bus” by the president.

On Thursday, Trump announced that he would move Noem to a newly-formed role, “special envoy for the Shield of the Americas,” and tapped Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) to be his nominee.

“I just want to make it clear that I didn’t get fired, I self-deported,” stressed the faux DHS secretary, whose firing arrived just days after her trainwreck Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

The mock Noem added that she had “no regrets” about her controversial time as DHS head.
