Passengers traveling from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale arrived at their destination in the wee hours of the morning March 7, due to a potential security threat.
Southwest Airlines Flight 2094, traveling from Nashville International Airport to Fort Lauderdale, was diverted to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday evening, a Southwest spokesperson said, "to respond to a possible security matter."
"We appreciate the professionalism of our flight crew and sincerely apologize to our customers for the significant delay," a Southwest spokesperson said. "Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of its customers and employees."
A passenger was removed by the Atlanta Police Department, according to Southwest.
A spokesperson with the Atlanta Police Department noted officers assisted federal partners with "last night’s incident" at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
