Housewarming ceremonies for one lakh Indiramma Indlu (Houses) will be held by the end of the month. The dates would be announced officially in the coming days. By the time the housing scheme’s phase-II rolls out in April, ground breaking ceremonies of all sanctioned homes should be completed, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy issued the directions at a video conference with Telangana Housing Corporation’s officials held on Saturday (March 7).

Instructions pertaining to delays in crediting installments to the beneficiaries and repercussions, hike in construction material, deadline for allotment of vacant 2BHKs and other aspects were part of the meeting. This was held as part of the government’s 99-day action plan titled ‘Praja Palana - Pragatiki Pranalika’.

Altogether, a total of 3.6 lakh houses were sanctioned for the poor in rural areas. However, the Minister said, people are still living in shacks in some parts and such families should be given priority while sanctioning the houses. The ground breaking ceremony for 20% of the sanctioned houses has not been held yet, and it should be completed by the end of the month. The houses nearing completion should be ready by June-end.
