More than six tonnes of banned tobacco products seized in various cases across Nagapattinam district were destroyed on Friday following a court order.According to the police, 6,186.16 kg of banned tobacco products, including gutka, seized in 26 cases registered between 2018 and 2026 at different police stations in the district were disposed of under the supervision of Superintendent of Police K.S. Balla krisshnan.The contraband, prohibited by the State government, was buried and destroyed safely in accordance with legal procedures.Officials from the Food Safety Department, municipal sanitation wing, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, and personnel from the police stations concerned were present during the destruction process.
