Republican Senator Says Kristi Noem Was 'Out Of Her Depth'North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis, who's emerged as one of ousted Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's loudest critics in the Republican party, told a reporter he believes she "just got to a point where she was out of her depth.""She had an organization too large and too complex for her to manage effectively," he continued."She simply was not up to the size and the complexity of the organization, and I wish her well," he added.Tillis, who voted to confirm Noem to lead DHS last year, had much harsher language for Noem during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday.“What we’ve seen is a disaster under your leadership, Ms. Noem! A disaster! What we’ve seen is innocent people being detained that turn out are American citizens!" he yelled at her.Tillis also brought up Noem's infamous admission that she intentionally fatally shot her own dog, a pet she called “untrainable” and “less than worthless" in her 2024 book.“You decided to kill that dog because you had not invested the appropriate time and training!” shouted Tillis, who noted he trains dogs. “And then you have the audacity to go into a book and say it’s a leadership lesson about tough choices!”See All UpdatesClose
