Savannah Guthrie has returned to the "Today" studio to thank her colleagues for their support amid the ongoing search for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.
A "Today" spokesperson shared that Guthrie, who has been off the air at the NBC morning show for more than a month while authorities in Arizona search for her missing mother, paid a visit to the "Today" studio on Thursday, March 5. She did not appear on the air. The NBC statement also confirmed that Guthrie intends to return to the show. A timeline was not provided.
"Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her 'TODAY' colleagues," the statement said. "While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home."
Jenna Bush Hager grew emotional as she discussed the visit on the air Thursday, sharing that Guthrie "talked to all of us" and "hugged every single person in this room."
"She said that she has the intention to return to the show, even though it feels like the hardest thing to do, it's also her home, and where she feels so loved, and she is beyond loved here," Hager said. "And so we're happy that she is home. I don't know when she's actually returning to the show, but she was here, and that felt so good to get to hug her."
