For the Democrats, Texas state Rep. James Talarico and his populist messaging defeated U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who already held nationwide recognition for her viral, combative moments with other lawmakers.
The race isn't over for the Republicans. No candidate surpassed 50% of the vote, so incumbent Sen. John Cornyn and embattled state Attorney General Ken Paxton are scheduled to go to a run-off election on May 26.
