They hailed from small American towns and cities – places like White Bear Lake, Minnesota and Bellevue, Nebraska.
Four were Army reservists serving with an Iowa-based unit deployed to Kuwait. One was anticipating a promotion. Another was just days away from returning to her family.
All were among the six U.S. military members killed since President Trump ordered an attack on Iran on Feb. 28 alongside Israel, fueling an ongoing war that has also claimed hundreds of Iranian lives, including Iran’s supreme leader.
The Pentagon has so far identified four of the dead, all of whom were members of a Des Moines Army Reserve unit who perished March 1 during a drone attack in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, where they worked on a logistics base that supplies troops.
"They represent the heart of America. We will remember their names, their service, and their sacrifice,” Maj. Gen. Todd Erskine, commanding general of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command said.
