March 3 (UPI) -- Selma actor David Oyelowo and Avengers alum Hayley Atwell have signed on to star in a new Treasure Island series for MGM+
Production is currently underway with Oyelowo playing Long John Silver and Atwell as Bess Hawkins.
The cast will also include Jack Huston, Tomer Capone and Tom Sweet.
The series is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic 18th-century pirate adventure.
"When Jim gets his hands on a legendary treasure map, his mother Bess's clever and decisive actions leave him holding valuable knowledge that puts both of their lives in danger," a synopsis said.
