Apolice officer sustained a head injury in clashes with protesters against the America's Cup in Naples Tuesday.
Protester broke through a police line outside the council offices in the suburb of Bagnoli, where the world's oldest sporting contest is set to take place next year.
Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi was chairing a meeting on the organisation of the event.
Protesters were demonstrating against the council decision to host the Cup and against a series of public works on the seashore.
The 38th America's Cup will be held in Naples in the spring and summer of 2027, with the main team bases and event infrastructure located in the rehabilitated Bagnoli industrial area.
