More U.S. cities will be able to enjoy Costco's famous $1.50 hot dogs and rotisserie chickens as the warehouse club is set to open new locations in March and April.
The new stores will open in Texas, Utah, and California, with another location set to debut in the Canadian province of Manitoba, according to the company. Costco, a members-only wholesale store, opened its first location in 1976 as Price Club. The location was inside a converted airplane hangar in San Diego.
According to Costco, Price Club changed from a small business store to a warehouse as "the growth of the warehouse club industry was off and running." The first Costco warehouse location was opened in Seattle in 1983.
During its latest earnings report in early February, Costco said it has 924 warehouses, including 634 in the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as locations in Mexico and Japan.
Costco lists six locations with future opening dates in March and April on its "Coming Soon" page.
