Six schools and three branches of two banks in Delhi received bomb threats through e-mails on Monday, which were later in the day declared as a “hoax” after thorough inspections, officials of the Delhi Fire Services said.The schools that received threats are Army Public School in Delhi Cantonment, Salwan Public School, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Mira Public School in Janakpuri, Ramjas Public School and Ramjas School in Rajendra Nagar, while the affected banks are Axis Bank branch in Connaught Place and two branches of State Bank of India at AIIMS and Shahdara, they added.A senior Delhi Fire Services officer told The Hindu that the targeted banks and schools received threat e-mails around 8.10 a.m.“Teams from the local police, bomb disposal squad, dog squad and fire department were immediately dispatched to the locations,” a senior police officer said.Students and staff were evacuated as a precautionary measure, and parents were informed and asked not to panic as security agencies began sanitising the school premises.Police declared the threats a hoax after conducting thorough inspections of classrooms, corridors, administrative blocks, parking areas, and the surrounding premises at the schools and banks.Message to parentsIn a message to parents, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya said it had received a security threat in the morning and that police teams were on campus to implement necessary security measures. It added that all students had been evacuated safely. The message further stated that classes for junior school students would resume once the premises were declared safe.
