The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), at its first corporation meeting after the dissolution of the council, cleared a total of 30 proposals on Monday. Among them was a proposal for the registration of prime government land at Malakpet in the name of an individual at a price of ₹13,000 per square yard.
The individual had emerged as the highest bidder for 333.51 square yards of land at Malakpet Municipal Colony in an auction. The registration received approval from the Standing Committee on December 29, as revealed in the meeting agenda.
The government market value of land in the Malakpet vicinity at present is not less than ₹29,100 per square yard — significantly higher than the auction price. When queried, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan said the auction was conducted in 2023 and had received Standing Committee approval. The proposal cleared by the Corporation will now be sent to the government for final approval, he added.
Two additional proposals for land exchange in Jubilee Hills were also cleared at the meeting chaired by Special Officer Jayesh Ranjan. Another proposal approved the issuance of a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for a land allotment made by the district administration in 2012 in favour of the wife of a sitting Member of Parliament.
