The 2026 Actors Awards marked the final leg in the lead up to the Academy Awards this Sunday at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium.
Formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the honors have historically been a faithful forecast for which thespians will triumph come Oscars’ night, which will take place March 15.
While Jessie Buckley’s soul-wrenching performance as William Shakespeare’s wife in “Hamnet” has been a consistent winner in the leading lady categories, this awards season the battle between male screen stars has been much more unpredictable.
Early on, it looked like Timothée Chalamet was primed for his very first Academy Award for after taking home the Golden Globe and Critics’ Award for his frenetic performance as ping-pong savant Marty Mauser in “Marty Supreme.”
Still, Chalamet’s was dealt stiff competition from Michael B. Jordan, who did double duty as “Sinners” starring Smokestack Twins, as well as Oscar veteran Leonardo DiCaprio, nominated for this year’s awards-magnet, “One Battle After Another.”
