Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia on Sunday urged party workers to give “blood and sweat” to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power and instal AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in the post.Forty-eight hours after being discharged by a Delhi court in the excise policy case along with Mr. Kejriwal, Mr. Sisodia in an address at Jantar Mantar praised workers’ efforts in bringing Mr. Kejriwal to power in Delhi while alleging that Mr. Modi removed the former Chief Minister from office “through fake stories and lies”.Galvanising the party supporters, he repeatedly asked whether they were prepared to work with courage, take risks, and face Central agencies such as the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate. “You will have to give your blood and sweat. Are you ready?” he said, urging workers to declare their support loudly. “From today, every patriot of this country should have only one dream: to remove Narendra Modi and bring Kejriwal to power,” the former Deputy Chief Minister said.Criticising Mr. Modi’s handling of foreign and national security matters, Mr. Sisodia said India does not need a leader who “turns a blind eye” to China’s intrusions or remains silent when the U.S. President Donald Trump “abuses” India. The AAP leader attacked the Prime Minister’s global image, claiming that international powers have begun to say they can “make him dance”.Need visionary PM“The country needs a courageous, educated, visionary, and staunchly honest Prime Minister who advocates for schools, hospitals, employment, and trade. There is only one leader who can do all this: Arvind Kejriwal,” he said.Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva hit back, saying AAP had governed the Capital for 11 years and ruled Punjab for three and a half years, but delivered “zero development” in both States. “Instead of addressing this, he seeks to question the one-year-old Delhi government and demands answers from BJP governments in Gujarat and Goa, where AAP has been rejected repeatedly.”‘Corruption and scams’Mr. Sachdeva claimed that the BJP-led government had undertaken development works worth thousands of crores. He said ₹100 crore was allocated to each Assembly constituency for local development. “Arvind Kejriwal’s 11-year tenure was marked by corruption and scams, whereas the BJP government’s one year has been characterised by change and development,” he said.Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav said denying the Youth Congress permission to hold an event at Jantar Mantar showed “complicity” between the BJP and AAP. Mr. Yadav alleged that both parties had misled the public in the excise policy case. Published - March 02, 2026 01:41 am IST
